In 2026 two actor musicians performed A Storytelling Banquet for four audiences. For the main course, a wholesome hearty story, The Boy and His Garden was presented. This has been recorded for radio.

The boy and his garden

A boy grows up inside the walls of an enchanted garden he knows by heart, then wanders so far into the world that its sounds fade from memory. Returning years later, he finds the gate shut against him. A story about home and return, its themes, locations and soundscape drawn from workshops with local dementia groups.

Here, producer and artist Laura Cordery and writer-director Anna Clart, talk about the process of working with the four Memory for Hertfordshire dementia groups to develop the play and performance of A Storytelling Banquet.
